Purpose:
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler ensures seamless operations by overseeing and driving the maintenance work control process through routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events for the plant. Responsible for prioritizing maintenance work through CMS, developing detailed job plans, and determining the right parts, equipment and materials needed to get the job done. Provide essential equipment expertise and technical guidance to continuously enhance maintenance activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Understand the scope of work to put together a job plan, estimate labor hours, tools, and resources needed to complete work orders/PM’s
- Utilize CMS system to plan work orders, review work orders to understand downtime issues and manage a group scorecard that will be updated each month.
- Prepare preventative maintenance plans and schedules that are in sync with the organization’s maintenance goals.
- Order materials and parts to ensure production optimization.
- Act as the primary liaison between maintenance, operations, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance and line efficiency and implement best practices in line with lean manufacturing principles.
- Facilitates and coordinates root-cause analysis of equipment failures and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
- Engage with internal and external expertise to improve reliability processes, including criticality analysis, Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies, condition-based monitoring, preventive maintenance optimization, and critical spares.
- Coordinate with the Production Scheduler planned downtimes to reduce mean time between failures and minimize interference with production schedules.
- Uses CMS for tracking and planning maintenance.
- Responsible for maintaining and reducing work order backlog on lines.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with all vendors and contractors, including coordinating onsite visits.
- Manage the inventory for the storeroom, setup new parts for the storeroom, and work on minimizing downtime due to no spare parts.
- Responsible for reviewing and maintaining all incoming work requests to ensure timely planning and completion.
- Maintain accurate information for all new, existing and decommissioned equipment.
- Maintain awareness and proactively manage all factors contributing to KPI's such as but not limited to: Equipment breakdowns and downtime, PM Completion percentage, PM and Line Change Over time deltas.
- Cost - Labor & Parts (Ratio of Preventative/Proactive Maintenance to Reactive Maintenance).
- Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving operations and solving maintenance-related problems. Initiate and implements based on best practices.
- Maximize uptime and reliability through using planned maintenance where it is more effective than alternatives.
- Rigorously apply safety standards, ensure all team members actively adhere to safety standards and identify any potential risks in their area.
- Schedule maintenance technicians work assignments and project work.
- Schedule and monitor machinery repairs and rebuilds.
- Work with machine builders and parts room on all repair parts and order parts when needed.
- Ensure that all maintenance areas are organized and clean.

Skills/Work Experience Needed:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or a related field; or equivalent experience, required.
- Working knowledge of basic computer skills, Internet and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and compressed air systems.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English.
- Ability to work well with others and a strong team player in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
- Experience in the supervision of day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance, strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management software experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of the CMS helpful.
